Preheat oven to 350F. Prepare two 9 inch cake pans.

Cream sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla together. Add in the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Pour into cake pans. Bake 28-33 minutes; test as usual.

Cool for 5 minutes, then turn out of pans and cool on racks.
