Sift together flour and salt. Cream butter, gradually add sugar, creaming well. Blend in egg and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients gradually, mix well. Divide into 4 parts, shape. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-10 minutes or until brown. Yield approximately 6 dozen cookies.
Drop Cookies: Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly buttered sheet. Flatten slightly with greased glass dipped in sugar. If, desired, add 1/4 cup chocolate morsels and 1/4 cup pecans.
