Herman starter
Zutaten für 1 Portionen Menge anpassen
die Zutaten:
2 Tasseall-purpose flour
1/4 TasseSugar granulated
2 Tassewater warm
1 Packungdry yeast
die Zubereitung:

Mix flour, water, sugar and yeast together in plastic or glass container and let stand overnight, loosely covered, in a warm place. The next day, refrigerate, loosely covered. Stir every day. On the 5th day, add to the mixture 1c. Flour, 1c. Milk and 1/2c. Of sugar. Stir well and return to the refrigerator, loosely covered. Continue stirring daily. On the 10th day, remove 1c. Of the starter, set aside. The rest of the starter can be used in recipes or to give away to friends. Return the 1c. Of starter to the empty crock. To it, add 1c. Of flour, 1c. Milk and 1/2c. Of sugar. Repeat on the 5th day. Remember, you must stir each day. On the 10th day you will be ready to bake again. If you don't wish to bake on the 10th day add 1tsp. Of sugar to the starter and repeat every 10th day until you are ready to bake. (But don't wait to long, or you won't be able to get anything else in the refrigerator.) ***The clipping did not state, but I think it is important to stir only with non-metal utensils.
