2 Esslöffel | olive oil |
10 Milliliter | Garlic minced |
1 mittel | Onion chopped |
1 mittel | Green pepper; in 1/2" chunks |
1 x ca. 450 g | Ground beef or ground turkey |
1 Teelöffel | salt |
1/4 Teelöffel | black pepper freshly ground |
1/8 Teelöffel | cayenne pepper |
4 Esslöffel | parmesan grated |
2 Esslöffel | Chopped pimiento-stuffed green olives |
1/2 Teelöffel | oregano |
3 Esslöffel | Chili sauce cheese -- cut into |
1/4 | Cubes(can use part-skim cheese) |
8 mittel | French rolls or other sandwich rolls |
1/4 lb Or more mozzarella
and saute until golden. Add green pepper and onion and saute until tender. Add ground beef or turkey, salt, pepper, cayenne, and Parmesan cheese and cook, breaking up meat as it cooks, until meat is no longer pink. Add olives, oregano, and chili sauce and cook 5 minutes more. Up to this point, the recipe can be made ahead and held (in refrigerator, if time is long) until time for serving. At serving time, spread meat in a shallow dish or pan which can stand broiler heat. Cover meat with mozzarella cubes and run under a medium broiler until meat is hot and crisp and cheese is melted and beginning to brown. Heat rolls in oven while meat is crisping, if desired. Spoon meat mixture onto rolls and serve. (Garlic dill pickles and chips are obvious accompaniments. And cold beer or root beer.)
