Dinner-in-a-dish was a favorite of mine when I was a child. For 30 years, after my mother died, I hadn't eaten it. My sister re-introduced me to it a couple of years ago. This recipe is from my mother's sister, Aunt Queen. She says that my grandmother taught it to her. Every child I have ever fed this to likes this meal.
It takes me, a fumble fingered man, about an hour to make.
~ Chop up onion and pepper. Brown in skillet. Use 1-2 tbs olive oil to
help prevent burning.
~ Brown hamburger. Drain excess fat.
~ Combine tomato soup, meat, onion, and pepper into sauce pan. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring periodically.
~ Cook spagetti while simmering sauce.
~ Toast bread, and cut into small squares.
~ Heat oven to 350 deg F.
~ Combine drained spaghetti and sauce in a casserole dish.
~ Place toast squares on top.
~ Cook in 350 deg F oven for 30 minutes. Serve with Parmesaen cheese as desired. Goes well with milk. 9-)
Refrigerates and/or freezes well.
