10 | Apples (Golden Delicious or Ida Reds) |
1/4 Tasse | butter unsalted |
2/3 Tasse | sugar granulated |
Peel the apples. Cut them in half and remove the cores. Slice them into slices about 1/2 inch thick.
Melt the butter in a large skillet and add the sugar. Cook for approximately 5 minutes. The sugar should begin to melt and turn golden.(Be careful not to burn it.)
Add the apples. At first the juices from the apples will come out but eventually, in about 20 minutes, the juices will evaporate and the mixture will start to thicken. The heat should be medium to medium-high. Cook for another 10 minutes, until the apples start to brown and stick-watch them closely and make sure they do not burn. Puree the apples to make a sauce or serve as is.
