6 | Strips bacon, cut in 2 inch pieces |
1 gross | Red onion, very thinly sliced |
2 Dose | Dark brown beans- 19 oz. apiece |
2 Esslöffel | Coffee, finely ground (or more if you like) |
1 Teelöffel | mustard dry |
1/2 Tasse | maple syrup |
In a large frying pan, cook bacon pieces over moderate heat until lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
In the same pan, cook onion until soft.
Line the bottom of an 8 cup casserole with half the bacon. Cover with a thin layer of onions, then spread about a 1 inch layer of the beans on top.
Repeat the onion and bean layering twice more.
Sprinkle finely ground coffee on top. Stir mustard into maple syrup to dissolve, and pour all over. Top with remaining bacon.
Cover and bake in a 350 °C F oven for 30 minutes. Remove cover and continue to bake about 15 minutes longer until beans are bubbling and have thickened nicely. Serves 4-6 Typed in MMformat by cjhartlin@msn. Com
