4 Scheibe | bacon |
1 Tasse | milk |
2 | eggs fresh |
1/2 Teelöffel | salt |
1 Tasse | all-purpose flour Sifted |
1/2 Tasse | butter softened |
1/8 Teelöffel | oregano fresh |
1/8 Teelöffel | sage fresh |
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 475 degrees. Cook the bacon until it is crisp, drain, and reserve about one tb of the drippings. Crumble the bacon and set it aside.
In a bowl combine the eggs and milk, then add the flour and salt. Beat until smooth. Add reserved bacon drippings and stir in the bacon.
Fill well-greased custard c half full. Bake for fifteen minutes. Do not remove the popovers from the oven but reduce the heat to 350 degrees and continue baking for twenty-five to thirty minutes more, until the popovers are brown and firm.
Pierce the popovers with the tines of a fork before you remove them from the oven. Butter them with the fresh herb butter made from the three remaining ingredients.
