For A Delicate Intestine: Intestinal upsets stem from a variety of causes. Sometimes a cat ingests highly irritating material, or may have an intestinal infection. A few cats have an unusually sensitive intestinal tract, just as humans may have chronic colitis. In these situations, a bland, nonirritating, and easily digested diet is necessary.
A nutritious, highly digestible food, i/d is made from ingredients unlikely to irritate the intestines. It is often used for cats recovering from abdominal surgery. It can also be used to aid in recovery from diarrhea that is sometimes accompanied by a loss of appetite. Because it is so easily digested and soft, i/d may be prescribed for kittens until their digestive tracts are fully developed. As a diet, i/d places minimum stress on your cat's digestive organs and supplies the nutrients needed for growth, as well as healing and tissue repair.
