Pitted prunes; soaked 4 hours in 1/2 cup Armagnac, reserve 2 tablespoons soaking liquid

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Use 1 tablespoon butter to grease a shallow 12 to 14inch quiche dish. Melt the 6 tablespoons butter, browning lightly. Layer prunes in pattern on quiche dish. Mix flour, sugar, eggs and melted brown butter in a mixing bowl. Add the 2 tablespoons of reserved prune soaking liquid. Stir in milk to form a thin batter. Pour batter over prunes and bake in oven 35 to 40 minutes, until inserted knife exits cleanly. Serve warm from dish.
