1 x ca. 450 g | Dried red kidney beans |
2 ca. 1 Liter | water cold |
1 mittel | Onion chopped |
1 gross | green pepper chopped |
1 Tasse | Cooked ham; minced (optional) |
1 Teelöffel | salt |
1/2 Teelöffel | pepper |
4 Tasse | brown rice Cooked |
Place beans in a large kettle, add water and soak overnight. Next day, add onion, green pepper, ham, salt and pepper to beans in their soaking water. Bring to boil, lower heat and cook 2-1/2 hours. Remove cover and cook another 30 minutes on lowest heat. Serve over beds of hot brown rice.
