Cake: Mix first five ingredients and bake in a greased and floured tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Glaze: Dissolve the confectioner's sugar in the juice of two lemons. While the cake is hot, pour the glaze on top of the cake while it is still in the tube pan. Let stand in pan until cool, then remove.

England, we had a 4th of July party for about 125 people several years in a row. We made several different desserts, but this one was far and away the favorite. We must have made 5 or 6 of this cake, and we couldn't cut it fast enough to keep it on the table. Guests swarmed through it like locusts.
