Mix together the dry ingredients then add the milk. This should make a fairly thick batter. Add the onions and mix it thoroughly. Drop the batter by spoonfuls into deep fat. (I would use less fat another time.) Flatten them into patties when you turn them. Makes about 16 patties the size of medium cookies.
Tv chef showed something similar May 11 which he said was based on 1930's depression cooking in Europe. He put an assortment of leftover vegetables in a food processor with 1 egg and enough breadcrumbs so they could be handled as patties.
